Arlington Heights, IL (February 20, 2019)

Arlington Heights, IL (February 20, 2019) — Connectiv has announced the finalists for the 65th annual Jesse H. Neal Awards, including five nominees across three SGC Horizon media properties — Building Design+Construction, Professional Remodeler, and ProTradeCraft.com. Widely considered to be the Pulitzer Prize of the business press, the Neal Awards recognize B2B media outlets for journalistic enterprise, service to the industry and editorial craftsmanship.

Professional Remodeler earned nominations in two categories — Best Editorial Use of Data and Best Technical Content. Editorial staff members including Erika Taylor, Sal Alfano, Kaitlin Schuler, and James McClister earned finalists honors in the Best Editorial Use of Data for the Wage & Benefits Survey published in the October 2018 issue and in the Best Technical Content for the ProTrade Craft Building Science Articles.

In the Best Instructional Content category, Building Design+Construction team members Robert Cassidy, Cathy LePenske, Larry Nigh, and David Barista earned finalist honors for their work on the BDCuniversity.com, BD+C's continuing education platform for architects, engineers, contractors, and building owners/developers. BD+C's sibling brand, Multifamily Design+Construction, led by Robert Cassidy and Larry Nigh, contributed to this entry.

Dan Morrison and the editorial team at ProTradeCraft.com, SGC Horizon’s multimedia technical journal providing useful and interesting construction know-how to all skill levels across multiple digital platforms, earned accolades in two categories: Best Instructional Content, for which it won at last year’s Neal Awards, as well as Best Podcast, for “7 Minutes of BS — Building Science With a Beat”.

“The editorial teams at SGC Horizon strive to provide serviceable expertise — in print, in person and online — that helps our readers do their jobs more efficiently, effectively, and economically,” said Tony Mancini, Group Director and Principal. “Recognition as finalists in the Jesse H. Neal Awards instills a sense of pride in that we’re not just creating well-crafted, high-level content, but content that truly resonates with our audiences in the B2B space.”

Connectiv also named brands under SGC Horizon’s sister company, Scranton Gillette Communications, as Neal Award finalists. The Water Infrastructure Group (Water & Wastes Digest, Water Quality Products, and Storm Water Solutions), Roads & Bridges, Imaging Technology News and Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiology earned six nominations between them, for a total of 11 finalists across the Scranton Gillette Companies.

Jesse H. Neal Award winners will be announced on March 29, at the Neal Awards luncheon in New York City.
