Arlington Heights, IL (April 1, 2019) — Connectiv has announced the winners for the 65th Annual Jesse H. Neal Awards, which include four Scranton Gillette Communications/SGC Horizon brands. The winning brands include Imaging Technology News, Roads & Bridges, Building Design+Construction, and ProTradeCraft.com. A total of 11 Scranton Gillette Communications/SGC Horizon brands earned Finalist honors.

Recognized as the “Pulitzer Prize of the business press,” the Jesse H. Neal Award winners are selected for exhibiting journalistic enterprise, service to the industry and editorial craftsmanship.

The awards were announced by Connectiv at an awards luncheon held on March 29 in New York City.

“It’s an honor for these brands to receive the prestigious Jesse H. Neal Awards, as it means we’re providing the ultimate service to the industries in which we participate,” said Scranton Gillette Communications/SGC Horizon CEO Ed Gillette, who added, “These awards are a testament to our commitment to excellence in content creation across multiple platforms.”

Imaging Technology News earned a Jesse H. Neal Award for Best Technical Content for its team coverage of the topic of gadolinium, which included print, video and social media. Editor Dave Fornell, Editorial Director Melinda Taschetta-Millane, and Associate Editor Jeff Zagoudis received the Award at the March 29 luncheon.

Roads & Bridges’ Editorial Director Bill Wilson, along with Brian W. Budzynski, Managing Editor and Tim Bruns, Associate Editor, earned the Jesse H. Neal Award for Best Subject-Related Package, for Roads & Bridges’ coverage of the Florida International University bridge collapse.

ProTradeCraft.com, under the direction of Technical Editor Dan Morrison of the SGC Horizon brand, earned the Jesse H. Neal Award for Best Instructional Content for the second consecutive year. ProTradeCraft.com is the multimedia technical journal providing useful and interesting construction know-how to all skill levels across multiple digital platforms.

Building Design+Construction also received the Jesse H. Neal Award for Best Instructional Content. Editorial Director David Barista, along with team members Robert Cassidy, Cathy LePenske, and Larry Nigh, were recognized for their work on the BDCuniversity.com, which is BD+C's continuing education platform for architects, engineers, contractors, and building owners/developers. BD+C's sibling brand, Multifamily Design+Construction contributed to this entry.

In all, 11 Finalist Honors were earned across the Scranton Gillette Communications/SGC Horizon brands. The Scranton Gillette Communications brand Finalists included: The Water Infrastructure Group (Water & Wastes Digest, Water Quality Products, and Storm Water Solutions) for “Best Subject-Related Packaging; Imaging Technology News, in the Best Commentary/Blog, and Best Range of Work by a Single Author categories; Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiology in Best Range of Work by a Single Author.

Brands from Scranton Gillette Communications’ sister company, SGC Horizon, were also named as finalists in the 2019 Neal Awards competition. In addition to the two winning brands, Professional Remodeler was a Finalist in both the Best Editorial Use of Data, and Best Technical Content categories; and ProTradeCraft.com earned Finalist Honors in the Best Podcast category.
