Arlington Heights, IL (July 29, 2013) Construction Equipment magazine captured the Gold National AZBEE Award for Regular Contributed Column from the American Society of Business Publication Editors on July 26 at the 2013 ASBPE National Conference in Chicago.

Construction Equipment received the award for Dr. Mike Vorster’s November and December 2012 “Equipment Executive” columns. A regular contributor to Construction Equipment, Vorster is the David H. Burrows Professor Emeritus of Construction Engineering at Virginia Tech, a 50-year veteran of the construction equipment industry, and the author of “Construction Equipment Economics,” a handbook on the management of construction equipment fleets.

‘‘‘Equipment Executive’ is written specifically for those equipment managers who treat construction equipment as assets,” says Editorial Director Rod Sutton. “The financial side of equipment management has become more important in recent years, and nobody addresses the issue better than Mike. He is recognized by end users, distributors and manufacturers as the foremost authority in asset management. It is gratifying to see him receive national recognition for editorial excellence from our business journalism peers.”

ASBPE is the professional association for editors, writers, art directors and designers in business, trade and specialty press. Its annual Awards of Excellence are respected among the business press.

Construction Equipment is published by Scranton Gillette Communications/SGC Horizon. Its sister publication, Building Design+Construction, received three AZBEE Regional Awards and was a National finalist for Magazine of the Year.
